A recent report by TechSci Research suggested that the tablet market in India is set to cross $2 bn in 2013. There are as much as 23.8 million individuals in India who access the Internet from their mobile phones using a data connection such as GPRS or 3G.
A latest study by Google called the 'Multi Screen Travellers' was conducted to understand the behaviour of smartphone users in India and its impact on the travel vertical. 87 per cent users stated that they used smartphones to research their trips and nearly 66 per cent users claimed that they had booked trips using their smartphones.
These recent trends in the markets have enabled the travel industry to capitalize on these developments. We are referring to the increasing need to have a Responsive website, operational across multiple devices for making travel plans and booking rooms. Creating a user-friendly experience across all devices is of utmost importance to make sure that hotel sites get positive responses. This enables users to make positive and impulse purchase decisions no matter what device he chooses to use.
Social media is another frontier that needs to be penetrated. The number of social media users in urban India is expected to grow by 17 per cent to reach 91 million in December 2013, a report by IAMAI and IMRB International said. Having a Facebook Fan Page, Twitter account, Instagram etc. are the best ways to target the growing social media users. The online travel market, is poised to log a 27% increase in revenue and touch $ 8.8 billion in 2013, PhocusWright said in a report.
Tablets are relatively new to the market; more and more online travel agencies are capitalizing on this by building tablet friendly websites. A number of researchers suggest that more than 90% of consumers watch and share videos. Creating a video for your site will prove valuable for increasing your internet presence in the long run. These videos can include testimonials by guests, tour of your property etc. which can be shared across social platforms and even through concise emails.
Promoting your hotel site on social media and through video campaigns is the need of the hour. In order to maximize bookings on hotels sites, it is essential that the hoteliers find the right solution that will help customers make a swift and comfortable booking choice.
